Rudraprayag Gurdwara Standoff Continues On 3rd Day: ITBP Deployed As Armed Nihangs Demand Release Of Associates

Rudraprayag: Armed Nihang Sikhs refused to come down from the roof of the Gurdwara in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag on the third day as well on Monday, resorting to stone pelting and daring the security personnel to take action.

The Nihangs are demanding the release of four members of the sect who were arrested following a clash in Chamoli on June 16. Armed with spears and swords, at least six Nihangs climbed onto the roof of the gurudwara, around 4 PM on Saturday and remain entrenched there, even after 40 hours. The gurudwara is located in Nagrasu, between Rudraprayag and Gauchar, and used by Sikh pilgrims traveling to and from Hemkund Sahib.
