New Delhi: The much-awaited pact to bring an end to the war, which sent the whole world into a tizzy over the loss of thousands of lives and spiralling energy prices crippling the global economy, has been signed between the US and Iran.
After keeping the contents of the memorandum of understanding under wraps for days, senior US officials finally revealed them to journalists on Wednesday, before Donald Trump and his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian put their signatures to the agreement. Iranian state TV also later released the text of the MoU.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, whose country has been mediating between the sides, later said the leaders of the US and Iran had signed the deal and it "shall enter into force with immediate effect."
