The HMDA has planned to spend nearly Rs 12 crore on widening the Sangareddy bypass road from I&B guest house to NH-65 to tackle the traffic congestion. But even as the works have commenced with the demolition of a compound wall of the guest house, the installation of statues of Jawaharlal Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi in the middle of the proposed widened road, threaten to bring back the problem of congestion again.
People are critical of the statue installation as this would nullify the impact of the road widening and bring back the same old problem of high traffic congestion on the same stretch of road despite spending so much money. Though there is no official statement made on who is installing these statues, TPCC working President T Jagga Reddy, has been constantly monitoring the works.
