Woman, her son killed in accident on Khammam-Devarapalli Greenfield highway
A woman and her son were killed, while a couple of others were injured, in a road accident on the newly opened Khammam-Devarapalli Greenfield National Highway in the district on Thursday.
The deceased, Pokabathini Sujatha (38) and Pavan (17) of Gandhi Nagar in Chintakani mandal in the district, were travelling in a car towards Hyderabad when the incident took place. A speeding mini-truck coming from the opposite direction rammed into the car, killing the duo on the spot.City & Local Guides
Pavan had recently secured admission to an engineering college in Hyderabad. His father, Narasihma Rao, who was driving the car, and the mini-truck driver suffered grievous injuries. The injured were shifted to Hyderabad for treatment. Both vehicles were badly damaged in the accident.
