High Court relief: Sangareddy withdraws land acquisition notification for 566 acres in Rejinthal
The High Court verdict came as a huge relief to 292 farmers of Rejinthal village in Nyalkal mandal as the court asked the Sangareddy district administration to withdraw the notification issued to acquire 566.12 acres of land farmers from the village.
As the district administration issued a notification to acquire these lands for National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) in January last, farmers had approached the High Court saying that the district administration was going for the acquisition in violation of Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
The farmers said that they were cultivating multiple crops in a year since all these 566 acres were fertile lands. Even though the court directed the district administration to exclude these lands from acquisition, the officials of Sangareddy just excluded the farmers on whose names the petition was filed in the court, prompting the remaining farmers to approach the court again.
