PM Modi Bats For Seafarers' Safety At G7 Meet, Highlights Loss of Indian Lives
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for security of maritime routes to allow seafarers to perform their duties without fear.
Addressing an outreach session of the G7 summit in Evian-Les-Bains in France on Tuesday, Modi said disruptions to maritime trade in the Strait of Hormuz have harmed the global economy and that many Indian citizens have lost their lives in the conflict.
PM Modi broached the sensitive issue while addressing the gathering of G7 leaders that also included US President Donald Trump, days after three Indian mariners were killed in a US military strike in the Gulf of Oman.
